چکیده

The work described in this paper addresses the problem of determination of the appropriate distribution of forces between the fingers of a multifingered gripper grasping an object. The system is statically indeterminate and an optimal solution for this problem is desired for force control. A fast and efficient sub-optimal method for computing the grasping forces is presented. This method is based on the superposition of fingerinteraction forces on equilibrating forces. An interaction force is defined as the component of the vector difference of the finger contact forces at any two fingers along the line joining the two contact points. They are computed based on the assumption that the normals at the point of contact pass through the centroid of the contact points and are therefore independent of the actual geometry of the object. The contact interaction is modelled as a point contact. The problems associated with making the algorithm independent of the object geometry are explored. Optimal Design for Heavy Forging Robot Grippers

This paper analyzes three typical mechanisms of heavy forging robot grippers: pulling with a sliding block including shortand long-leveraged grippers and pushing leveraged grippers, and uses multi-objective evolutionary genetic algorithm to design the optimal forging robot grippers. The decision variables are defined according to the geometrical dimensions of the heavy grippers, and four object...

Optimal Attitude Control for Articulated Body Mobile Robots

Optimal force distribution has been active field of research for multifingered hand grasping, cooperative manipulators and walking machines. The articulated body mobile robot “KORYU” composed of cylindrical segments linked in series and equipped with many wheels have a different mechanical topology, but it forms many closed kinematic chains through the ground and presents similar characteristic...

Impedance restrictions on independent finger grippers

The impedance matrices of independent point fingers of a multifingered gripper map to the impedance matrix of a grasped workpart. We find that in a planar geometry, three fingers are enough to allow an unrestricted range of workpart impedances, if finger impedances are selectable. In a spatial geometry however, five fingers are necessary for the broadest range of workpart impedances, and even s...

Real-Time Grasp Planning for Multi-Fingered Hands by Finger Splitting

Grasp planning for multi-fingered hands is computationally expensive due to the joint-contact coupling, surface nonlinearities and high dimensionality, thus is generally not affordable for real-time implementations. Traditional planning methods by optimization, sampling or learning work well in planning for parallel grippers but remain challenging for multifingered hands. This paper proposes a ...
